Privacy Policy

FlightBites is an airport-first restaurant guide and private food journal for flight crews. Privacy isn't a feature we added later. The app is built around it. This policy explains, in plain English, what FlightBites collects, what stays private, and what control you have over your data.
What we collect
FlightBites collects only what you give it:
- Account information. Your email address and a password, used to create and sign in to your account. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth.
- Optional profile details. A display name, crew role, operation type, aircraft type, and base airport. All of these are optional.
- Your content. Restaurant entries (name and address), your visit dates, star ratings, "would return" answers, private notes, optional public review text, and optional photos.
What stays private
The private journal is private by database design. These rules are enforced at the database level, not just in the app's interface:
- Your exact visit dates and private notes are never visible to other users. Ever.
- Shared reviews show only approximate date buckets like this month, never the exact date you were at an airport.
- Sharing a review is opt-in, per visit. Nothing you log is shared unless you choose to share it.
- You can post reviews anonymously under a role label instead of your display name.
- Photos are private unless you explicitly attach them to a shared review.
What we don't do
- No location tracking. FlightBites does not access your device's GPS or location. You type airport codes and addresses in yourself.
- No ads.
- No third-party analytics or trackers.
- No sale of your data. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored with Supabase, a cloud infrastructure provider that acts as our data processor. Supabase hosts the database and handles authentication on our behalf; it does not use your data for its own purposes.
Deleting your data
You are always in control of what you've logged:
- Delete individual visits at any time, in the app.
- Delete your entire account in the app under Profile → Delete Account. This permanently removes your journal, your reviews, your photos, and your profile.
Moderation
To keep shared reviews useful and respectful, you can report any review you believe is inappropriate, and you can block other users so their content no longer appears for you.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date. We will never quietly weaken the privacy model described above.
